i - closed;
[ Nobody really figured out why it took about three months for the dorm room arrangement to be swapped. Perhaps it was the paperwork, perhaps it was accommodating not one but two transfer students - but whatever it was, it took three months too long to get done. Not that Reiji couldn't adjust, though; it was done easily enough. Shizuma stayed in the same dorm, that's not too bad.

When they finally do get a room together, it's almost surreal. A return to normalcy, but it's still surreal. While they've always been in the same building, being allowed to stay in the same room is... closer than before, he has to admit. He also has to admit that it makes him happier.

So here he is, sprawled haphazardly over his new bed, his trunk untouched at its foot. He's probably going to stay like this until someone comes to wake him up. It's been a long day, after all. ]

ii - dancing in the fields;
[ It's rare that the skies are clear in England during the winter, and it's something Reiji doesn't miss the opportunity to capitalize on. In the afternoon after classes have ended, he can be found on the castle grounds in a secluded spot, robes gathered up to expose his forearms and secured with a few clips. In his hand is an aged fan of silk and wood, the fabric embroidered with golden thread. His movements are precise and elegant, and anyone familiar with Japanese buyou would recognize it as a very traditional form of said art.

How strange is it to see a seventh-year dancing close to the woods? That's up to you to decide. ]

iii - getting accosted by girls;
[ As Valentine's Day draws closer, Reiji finds himself receiving more and more (unwanted) attention from members of the opposite gender. First came the notes, and then a few girls taking it upon themselves to follow him in between classes. The fateful day has not yet arrived, but it seems he might have to hole himself up in his dorm room just in case something inconvenient happens.

You might find him being stopped by a particularly insistent young lady who has taken it upon herself to try and win his heart in any way possible. Even if she isn't asking him various aimless and/or personal questions every time she catches him in the castle grounds, she might actually be following him through the corridors. Which he might not notice.

What makes this all even more awkward is that he technically is already taken. Help him out, someone? ]

iv - always a studious man;
[ When there's a break in between classes, Shizuma has excused himself to the library to study for their upcoming tests and exams to keep up on his studies. He walks through the bookshelves, picking up the books that he needs before he sits down with his belongings in hand. He takes out what he needs to get started - parchment, his quill, ink, books and notes.

For quite some time, he stays silent, rifling through his notes to cross-reference what was talked about during class. He references the pages in his books, humming quietly to himself. As the minutes drag on to be an hour or so into this, he stretches out, stifling a yawn behind his hand.

Eventually, though, he has his arms folded over one of his books as a makeshift pillow with his head resting on his arms. The peace and quiet were too comforting to not take a nap in here, as much as he willed himself to not fall asleep. It's up to someone to wake him or let him sleep; he has been working rather hard as of late. ]

v - at peace with nature;
[ When nighttime falls and the astronomy class has departed for the night, Shizuma can be found at the astronomy tower. He's brought his shamisen with him, sitting down with his gaze directed upward at the star-filled sky. A smile appears on his face as he's content to just stare at the stars in their beauty, even with the crisp night air around him.

He soon takes his shamisen out of its' naga fukuro along with its' bachi, checking it over to make sure it was okay before he started to play a melody. The entire time, his head is bobbing, fingers gliding along the strings with his grey eyes sliding closed. Perhaps you can hear the melody coming down from the stairwell and would like to be a part of the audience? Or were you already watching? ]

Anywhere

[Rin can't believe his luck. Two weeks ago he was cursing his fate and now he has been rewarded with this joy. With someone to hold, to kiss, to love. It's a complete 180 from two weeks ago and it shows in his mood. He's grinning and laughing everywhere he goes, feeling mischievous and in a good mood. Suddenly he's nice and practically beaming at everyone he talks to, probably leaving not a few people confused. He's almost skipping on his toes and his game is better than it had ever been and he has a newfound motivation in lessons. Except... his grades haven't maybe changed as much, like he doesn't learn as much as before, but anyone who has seen him with a certain white haired Ravenclaw student can probably guess he's got better things to do.]

Dark corner

[Except there's one catch. That whitehaired Ravenclaw was a boy. And though Rin tried not to promote it too much, he isn't hiding it either and answered honestly to everyone who asked. Yes, he and Seth were dating. Usually people were okay with this... But not always. Rin has long ago learned that what other people said, or thought is by no means important, but that didn't mean it couldn't hurt him... or worse. His usual reply to any form of discrimination is a flash of sharp teeth, a warning growl and a seethed 'Get lost', but some people are just really resilient to that. Especially the ones who may not be taller, but had twice as broad a chest as him.]

What you a pansy?

[Is what he would face at least thrice a week, pushed against a wall and surrounded, and that is still the better case. He'd fight back, but usually he's gravely outnumbered.]

Toiletts, yet again

[Since encounters like that begun to happen in quite the frequency, Rin started to carry some make up with himself to be able to cover up the bruises. Taking a trip to the nurse's office each time it happened would be like begging for the teachers to get mixed up in this and he doesn't want that.

Thus, usually after such an encounter, he can be see hurrying to the nearest rest room, covering a part of his face, or keeping his head down, hair falling into his face, concealing it. This heightens the risk of bumping into someone, of course, but if he does, he just hurries further, not wanting to deal with the various looks of pity, or contempt.

Once in front of the mirror he washes his face and dibs the marks gently with powder, staring at his reflection in the mirror with an angry look, tears shining in his eyes. But these tears he doesn't let fall. He keeps telling himself that they're not worth it, that this is the kind of situation that - as a certain friend would tell him - can be solved with punches, no need to loose precious fluids over it. But it still hurts. Hurts to be hated for who you were... Rin wonders what was so wrong about loving someone, but he can't find an answer, or a reason. So he just bites back the hurt and let's the anger contain in, as he quietly sneers at his reflection.]

A) SLYTERIN COMMON ROOM

[Rin lies huddled on the couch, his school cloak wrapped tightly around him, as he sleeps. Ever since Rin came back from Australia, he can barely sleep at night, lieing awake and trashing around. Nghtmare plaguing him are nothing new, but it's been a long time since he had bouts of insomnia during the night. During the day he's lifeless, eyes averted to the ground, never looking up, when he talks, or even when he's asked.

When he does find rest, usually during the late afternoon, or during the breaks between lessons, he dreams. He dreams about drowning and then about tigers, purring white tigers, that craddle him, like they want to protect him. Usually he startles awake, with a gasp, only to find himself even more exhausted and going back to sleep again, only to have the entire cycle repeat once more.]

B) SCHOOL GROUNDS, ANYWHERE

[During the day he can barely focus, falling almost asleep even during his favite lessons like Potions and Arithmancy. When he gets called out, he doesn't know the answer, but it doesn't even seem like he particulary cares. He just keeps gazing out of the window, or into the ground, with an unbelievable sad expression on his face.

He has lost his appetite and barely eats his meals, fork listlessly poking at the juicy steak - his favorite - as he keeps staring into the ground. Occassionally his gaze lifts up a little bit, only to take a glance at the neighbouring Ravenclaw table, to see if he can spot a glimpse of silver hair, but usually he quickly averts it again, as if in fear of being noticed.]

C) A PRIVATE CORNER, TOILETS

[Sometimes the feelings overwhelm Rin too much and that's when he excuses himself, only to run to the nearest restroom and hides in an empty stalls, to let his emotions a free go. He hates being weak like that, crying like a baby, but he can't help it. That's the worst part. It's been over half a month since he last talked to Seth and it's tearing him apart. It's obvious that the Ravenclaw has been avoiding him and it's so painful, that it feels like he's gonna die.

He's so stupid, so fucking stupid!

How could he have ever let that happen? How could he have ever done that? How could he have ver though that...

Rin wailesand sobs, hiding his face in his hands, mourning the loss of his friend. Seth surely hates him now. And it's all Rin's fault.]

PRELUDE cut part - County of Kerry, Republic of Ireland )

[It was the morning of December the 30th and his mother calling him a "failure content with his wretched existence" for a bazillionth time, that had sent him packing and in spite of Quinn's insistence, through the fireplace the same hour. He hadn't headed straight to Hogwarts though, no. He had flooed over to his place, where he had grabbed his broom and flown all the way to the castle.

Bad idea.

While it was an effective way of venting the steam off, the south coast of Ireland and the Scottish Highlands were not a 5 minute flight, no matter how fast your broom was, and there was a good reason why he had been forced to quit Quidditch. 8 hours of flight were simply just not doable anymore.]

ARRIVAL - Castle grounds, anywhere (inside, outside)

[Sano landed on the white snow ground of Hogwarts, barely even able to see. He had flown without a single stop, through the cold air, could barely feel his limbs and with some parts of his body probably frozen off. He felt faint and sick and like he was about to spit out all of his inner organs, but at least he was back. Back to the castle, back to where there was warmth and love and family. Over the year he had taught there, Hogwarts had managed to become his second home. A safe place to return to, when your own home became a pain. Not that he considered his mother's place his home.

He leaned himself on the castle wall, wheezing for air and coughing, spitting out the blood out of his mouth, staining the pristine ground red. His head was spinning, whether from fatigue, or fever, he didn't know. What he knew was, he couldn't collapse now. He was back, he was safe now, all he had to do was get back to his room.]

Smart thinking, Harada. Real smooth. Bet ya look fetching now.

[He muttered to himself. He coughed a few more times, watching as the red drops fell to the ground, thinking that he should see the nurse in the morning and supporting himself by the wall, slowly made his way to his dorm. He should still have some whiskey around, that would warm him up. That and the amazing, hearth-like covers of his bed. If he collected himself enough, he might even light up his fireplace.

He just prayed to whoever was up there, that no residue student, or teacher, who hadn't left the castle for one reason or another, wouldn't find him. It wouldn't do to see the Quidditch referee and trainer this weak.]

[ It's that time again. Time for DA DA DA!!! Mail! Owls swoop in, leaving letters in front of those who receive them. Jean's not expecting to get anything, but isn't surprised to see something for him from his mother. They don't particularly have the best of relationships, Jean being an unruly teenager and her being a good mom that smothers loves him.

He rolls his eyes at the letter, tempted to stuff it in his robes for later reading. Whatever's inside will probably raise his hackles, as is typical of anything she sends him. Jean's not really keen on the whole idea of getting annoyed during the middle of the day, but what the hell. It's probably the same usual crap she sends him, and at least he can say he's been a good son if he read it, right?

Right.

Tearing it open, he begins to read. At first, he's right. It's the usual crap. She's gushing about her boyfriend of a couple months, telling him he'd like him and blah blah blah. Really, it makes him roll his eyes.

But when it comes to the part where she says the new boyfriend is moving in, Jean damn near rips the letter in half with how tightly he grips the edges. She goes on to further say that Christmas will be a family event this year, and that he better show up, but he hasn't really read that part. Instead, he crumples the letter up and slams it onto the table with a loud thud. ]

A) MORNING: Great Hall - Slytherin Table

[It's Friday morning and Rin is eating his spicy bacon, thinking about everything he has to do today, from Christmas shopping to study the new potion that Prof. Flourite has started with them - you could never do that early enough. He had passed the last test well enough, but it has revealed to him, that he still wasn't as good as he thought he was.

And then he has to go to Hogsmead shopping for presents, because there's no way he can get it all done next time. Besides Quidditch is starting in December, he ought to prepare for that as well. Gryffindor absolutely could not win.

He's torn out of his thoughts by the arrival of the owl post and to his surprise, there's a letter dropped in front of him. One look at the sender has him choking on the bacon one moment, and tearing off the top of the envelope the other. It was rarely that his step parents wrote him - for the obvious reasons of being Muggles - but sometimes they found a way how to deliver a letter to him, usually by someone assisting them.

His eyes skim through the page, a feeling of warmth spreading through him at the familiar handwriting smiling at him. He doesn't even notice how his perpetual frown drops, allowing a rare, unguarded smile settle on his face, as he reads what Russel and Lori wanted to let him know.]

B) DAY: Library - Behind a neat pile of books

[Rin is sitting behind his usual table in the library, a pile of various books on potion ingredients in a neat pile next to him. Let it be said that the 'Draught of Peace' was finnicky to make, but the more he understood the function of the ingredients, the less mistakes he'd make. Powdered Moonstone, Unicorn horn and Porcupine quills are mostly obvious, but the Syrup of Hellebore is tricky, thus there are more than a few Herbology books around him as well.

His quill is twitching as his hand flies over the parchment, taking notes of everything he deems as useful. He's collected over two feet of notes already and they keep coming, black ink painting the parchment with a dense, small script.]

C) AFTERNOON - Outside: Hogsmead, or on his way there

[Rin practically flies, even without his broom underneath him, out of the castle as the last lesson ends, in a hurry to buy at least a few presents before the shops close. Which won't be for another few hours, but still. At least he knows exactly what to buy, which saves him some time as well. It's dark outside already and the freshly fallen snow crunches underneath his feet. It's cold, but the running keeps him warm.]

[ It's Monday, the start of yet another school week. Tokiya had woken up early to prepare for his classes and check the Hogsmeade visit timings, but the notice hasn't been put up yet. And to think he had asked his Head of House specifically for when it would go up... this isn't the first time his plans had been derailed. He needed to find out when the students would be released out to the village first, for Reasons. Very Important Reasons.

Unfortunately, his packed schedule meant that the next time he could take a break from classes would be immediately before lunchtime - and the class before was a shared one with almost the whole level.

It isn't hard for him to convince Otoya that he had to go on ahead first, though. So here he is, walking rather briskly and rounding the corner to where the board had been hung up on the wall. The notice was up now - hm, over the weekend, it wasn't too bad. He had hoped for a Friday instead, but he could work with that.

He doesn't seem to be the only one intent on checking the board today, though... ]

A) Arithmancy and Potions homework

[Arithmancy was getting more an dmore interesting nowadays, Rin thought, as he sat over his homework one chilly November afternoon.

F(n) = F(n-1) + F(n-2) Explain and draw. Apply to one example by arguing the universal principles. Length: 1'

He loved how much sense everything made in Arithmancy. It made him learn a lot about life and himself as well. But, as much as he'd love to write 3 feet on this, he had to do this quickly. He still had his Potions assignment and as much as he loved the subject as well, he'd have to use actual words there instead of calculations.

That and after what happened with Professor Flourite last month, he felt he had to do well.]

B) Falling Asleep over History of Magic

[After he had finished his Potions assignment on the 'Use of various venom antidotes' it was well into the afternoon and all that was left to do was the History of Magic Assignment.

Write an essay on the reasons of the break out of the Giant Wars. Discuss if they could have been prevented and what steps would have been necessary to achieve that.

Rin couldn't stand History of Magic. He absolutely hated it, but it was still something he had to do. He hadn't finished his last assignment already, so he should at least try to conmplete this one. He was looking forward to dropping the subject after his OWLs.

He opened a book to take notes and put some order into the chaos that were Giant Wars, but after Arithmancy and Potions, it was like coming down from a rollercoaster to a boat ride on the lake. Or from early Quidditch practice to the first period class. It made you want to sleep.

He didn't even know when or how his eyes closed and he nodded off, head resting on the book, falling asleep over the article of "Late 19th century - An overview", soft, barely audible snores escaping him.]

C) CASTLE GROUNDS, outside / CLUB ROOM, learning / OTHER

[After completing his homework, one way or another, Rin sometimes allowed himself a few moments of relaxation. Usually he'd return to the Syltherin Club Room and learn some more, striving to get more and more knowledge into his head, but sometimes... sometimes he'd just go outside, to clear his head on the fresh air, that was slowly becoming chillier, day by day.

He'd walk around a little, or maybe sit on one of the benches, sitting in the shade, sometimes he'd read a book, usually hiding the cover and title from view. It might be something thrilling, or a horror, but more often than not Rin found himself inclined to the genre of romance, worked into an interesting story, usually tragic, or a thrilling adventure.

If persuaded for some time, he might be even roped into flying around a little, just for the sake of fun and chilling, but he was most of the time too exhausted to iniciate it by himself.]

A) Inside the castle, in front of a fireplace

[The one thing that Sano absolutely hated about Britain, was the weather. In his free time, besides running, Sano liked taking walks around the castle, but this weather was not walk-friendly. Times like these he missed Japan's sunshine and warmth. It wasn't that he couldn't deal with a little cold, it was the wet, morose, yucky part he had a problem with.

It was really no surprise to find him huddled in front of one of the many fire places these days, a steaming hot black tea next to him - may or may not be spiked with Irish Whiskey, or sake, reading the newspaper, or the "Quidditch Weekly" magazine, scowling about his former team's score. When he used to keep for them, they had a far better score. The new Keeper sucked.

Come to think of it, the Quidditch season would start soon. The schedule's been released already and the teams were working hard. The first game was around the corner and he looked forward to it already. He was wondering who would win~]

B) TEACHER'S DRINKING PARTY / Three Broomsticks (Closed, I suppose?)

[Because the days were getting colder and there were less and less things to do, one nice evening Sano decided, that it was time to start what he called "the party season". Meaning, snatch your colleagues, drag them to the Three Broomsticks and get them drunk make them have a little old-fashioned fun.]

One more round!

[He was paying it all and it would cost him his entire pay, but it wasn't like he had any big expenses this month (aside Halloween) and his bills were paid already. And socializing was important, especially between colleagues. His brother would probably call it team-building, or something like that. Sano called it "being a little crazy from time to time doesn't hurt".]

[ Only a month has elapsed after the start of school, and lessons have not yet picked up to full pace just yet. One would thus expect even the Sixth years to be cutting themselves some slack on a clear autumn's day, but this doesn't seem to be the case for one of the two boys arguing (?) in the quadrangle close to the school field. ]

I've said this already, you need to get the gesture corrected before the class tomorrow. You know the professor doesn't like it if you keep swinging your wand into the egg.

But Tokiya, we have practice later! Can't we go play some Quidditch first? My head's gonna hurt from all the studying soon...

Don't give me that face. You know what's good for you.

[ The one with the blue hair doesn't seem to be angry, though. But they're still bickering while slowly walking towards the field (he sees what you did there, bruh). ]

later

[ Training definitely hasn't started yet - in fact, the two of them were down almost two hours early. A few laps around the pitch served as warm-up, and soon enough the boys were chasing each other in the air. Sure, there were no Quaffles to play with, but at least they could do some stunts and technique while they're at it.

Or you might catch them when they're taking a break, having landed and sat down on the grass to rest. It doesn't take too long for Otoya to start singing one of their choir songs, and Tokiya joins in as well.

So there's two boys just lying down on the ground singing rather loudly. It's kind of obvious why they came down before everyone else. ]

wildcard

[ Feel free to catch them at other places around the school! Library, Great Hall, dorms, etc. Tokiya is probsbly studying his ass off somewhere, or otherwise costing the dungeons or greenhouses to do practical work. Otoya frequents the more outdoorsy places, but the two of them are usually together so seeing Tokiya in actual sunlight isn't impossible either.

Otherwise just post an empty comment and I'll write something! ]

Hogwarts Grounds, After A First-Year Flying Lesson

[Those were definitely brooms, and they were definitely flying.

What gives?

In-between rambling about how good it was that she had transferred (well.... that was true in more ways than one...)
into the school early in the year before there was too much to catch up on, the perfect showing Kyoko Kirigiri around had pointed out the school field and said it was for a sport involving flying broomsticks. 'Seeing is believing', supposedly, but people flying on broomsticks was a hard pill to swallow.

It was apparently an extremely easy pill for all of the magical folk, who actually were taught how to operate brooms in their first year. Oh, these cultural differences.

This might be a cultural difference that needed addressing immediately, though. Missing out on a skill that literally the rest of the school know is not really what you want to do when you're thrown alone into a new world. So here she was, lurking under the shade of a tree a distance from where the flying class was being held. Lurking quite suspiciously, but cut her some slack, there wasn't a single good hiding spot out here in the open anyway.

On one hand, she's had practice at learning by observation. On the other hand, the first-years she was observing..... were not the best role-models on campus. The professor's instructions were plenty, at least. And plenty loud, enough to carry through the open air. Honestly, she'd do a lot better (probably)
with instructions alone and a broom to herself, but she'd already checked out the feasibility of secretly loaning a broom (nope. Lockpicking the broom shed just wasn't a worthwhile risk at this point.) and lessons with the first-years.....

The first-years were eleven. Kirigiri stared at the class as the professor debriefed and dismissed them. A 6th year joining the 1st was a terrible idea.

What then? Problems, problems.... would a passing student or teacher like to distract her from her worries?]

A) Class

[The mornings were starting to be really chilly, Sano noted as he made his way to the early class. Hopefully the kids would get the hang of it by the end of the month and the class would be dropped. He looked forward to enjoying the warmth of his bed. Although he really didn't think that would happen. There were no flying geniuses this year and they moved forward at a fairly normal pace. Though there were some hopeless cases as well... It looked like he'd have to teach the class up 'till the end of the year.

He might have to rearrange classes during the winter months. He didn't mind a little chill, but he couldn't stand too much snow. Having grown up in southern Japan, he was maybe a little sensitive to cold weather. Yeah, a little. He doubted either of his fellow teachers had turned on their fireplace already. Maybe it was the Japanese in him, but he hated the moist cold of this country.

Arriving at the class, he toughend up and greeted the first years.]

Good morning, class! I hope you don't mind a little cold, because today, we will do a little round around the courtyard!

B) Quidditch

[As the quidditch season approached, all the school teams toughened up their training and were intensely prepairing for their upcoming matches. Sano's lazy afternoons became less and less, but in favor of hitting a few quaffles and flying around the quidditch field, that was a sacrifice he was more than willing to make. Besides, the lads played really well. It would be an interesting season.

He was out on the field, preparing the equipment for practice and checking it for any damages, sorting through what was usable and what not, having arrived a little early.]

C) Hogsmead

[Quiet evenings were a bliss. After the long hours of the day, it was really relaxing to just lounge by a quiet corner of the lake, with a bottle of whiskey, or sake, sometimes with pleasant company and just lie there in the grass, listen to the wind, maybe do a few excersises to cool down and unwind.

Today was not such a day.

It might have been long and tiring, but he was in the mood for company and song, singing those Irish pub songs that his brother had taught him, dancing and drinking, maybe flirting with some handsome lad, or a pretty lass, enjoying the evening.

The Three Broomsticks were busy as always, warm and full of nice smells. Rosmerta started pouring the mead as soon as she saw him, greeting him with a smile.]

Greenhouses
[Flora had been invited here and for some reason she found herself coming here. As to why she didn't know, however when she arrived she settled in and began exploring eventually finding herself in a place of her dreams. A Greenhouse. Her eyes sparkled when she saw it and wondered what kind of plants were inside. Making her way she soon found herself entering the greenhouse her eyes focusing on what was inside.

It was at this point that she knew what she could be the teacher of and it was going to be in the subject she loved most, plants. Flora moves about studying closely some of them, trying her best to figure out what some of them were as she had never seen them before.]

Corridors (Both Morning and Night)
[Flora had been told that as part of being a teacher she was to go on patrol at certain times during the day and night due to it being a summer holiday. She didn't mind this as much since it mean she could explore a bit more and see what beauty there was in this place. So she can be seen wondering around most of the time, although it's hard to tell if she is on patrol during the day or just wondering. During the night however she is on full alert, knowing now that students aren't allowed out after a certain time.]
