I ♞ VOID

[You know how most students leave the boat docking station to actually go inside? There was one girl who decided to stay behind after being forced to be sorted and then crawl into one of the boats to lay down. Apparently magic had changed her robes because she was too preoccupied to care to change. At least the robes she was changed into magically had a coat that was long enough to sort of work like her cloak did. She'd taken it off to put it over her to act as a blanket.
Instead of actually deciding to go inside, she was too busy moping. She hadn't even bothered to check things out and the idea that she might actually be able to use magic properly wasn't enough to cheer her up. Somebody want to fetch her?]
G r e a t - H a l l ;
[Well now that her stomach was clearly telling her that she needed to stop moping and crying, she finally started to get up and put the coat back on to head inside. Sure she was used to magic, but this wasn't quite the same. They'd never had actually moving pictures or moving stairs. Absent mindely, she continued to walk on until she stopped in front of the giant doors leading to the Great Hall.
At least she wouldn't starve, considering the food replenishes itself. Sitting down idly at the Gryffindor table, she just stared at the food. She was hungry, but there were other things to worry about.]
Saito.... Why...?

Saito.... Why...?

[He embraced her with everything he had, closing his eyes to more keenly feel her in his arms. His 'joke' about Prince Whales hadn't really meant to be a joke, so much as a way of reassuring her that he hadn't come back to life in a similar fashion. Of course it was only after he said it that he realized that it probably didn't help make things better.]
But I made a promise to protect you, and I couldn't let you go.

Damn it! If you had just... I never wanted to involve you in the war any more than I had. You could have found a way home and lived on. You weren't supposed to...
[And she choked up as her face became more tear stained. Setting her head against his chest, it was too hard. It was too hard to think about it or even talk about it.]

[Now it was Saito's turn to get angry. He was shaking... a mixture of withheld grief and anger, and despair that had eaten away at him in his final moments finally coming back to the surface. He tried to cool his anger just a bit so that he wasn't yelling at his already fragile wife, but it was something she had to understand.]
For better or for worse Louise, my destiny changed forever the day you summoned me. I'm no longer Saito Hiraga of Japan Tokyo, I'm the familiar of Louise Françoise. Do you really think my life would still have any meaning if you were gone? Look at you, you have the princess, your family, your friends, whereas everyone from my own world already must think I'm dead at this point. Do you think I could have gone back to the academy without you? I...
[He looked away, hiding the tears starting to form in his own eyes.]
I know it was selfish of me... I know that... but above all else I've ever had in my life, you are the most important to me. A familiar with no master is nothing but a failure... I'd sooner die a hundred times than let you die even once. You have your pride as a Noble Louise... this is my pride as a familiar.

"He's just a familiar"
He was so much more than just a familiar to her now. She couldn't help her tears from getting worse and that shaking. She thought she was trying to think of his feelings. That's why she wanted to do this alone. But she was no better than he was when it came to trying to protect who she loved.]
....I'm sorry.
[It came out softly and hard to heard.]
I'm sorry... because you're the most important person to me too. You're not just a familiar to me anymore.
That's why.... That's why I can't lose you.
[She clinged onto him tightly, holding on for dear life as if he'd disappear on her if she let go.]

Oh Louise, Louise... what are we going to do with one another? We're just too much alike in some of the stupidest and best ways.
[He kissed her forehead still feeling a little shaky from getting that off his chest.]
For better or for worse, lets promise each other never to leave each other's side ever again. No sad goodbyes, no heroic sacrifices for the other... we run away together, or we fight together, and it's the other's duty to drag the other along if they're being too stubborn.
no subject
Okay. [Moving just enough to reach out and grab the magic flower in full bloom now.] I promise as long as you do too.
[And than after a small pause, she gently pressed her lips against his.]
I love you.

I love you too Louise.
[He leaned in to kiss her lips with his own warm lips, memorizing the silky feel of them against him all over again. He was so certain he'd never have this again, and now it felt like everything was right with the world again. He wanted to weep, he wanted to laugh, he wanted to scream with joy at the top of his lungs, he wanted to let it all out, but the outlet he found was a tender and loving embrace, and a gentle almost hesitant kiss. He loved her so much it definitely hurt more often than not, but that too was the way it should be.]

At the very least, she could at least admit that much. She loved him more than anything. She could say it without any snappy comebacks (right now). He was really here somehow. At this point, it didn't even matter how. She would cling onto him for as long as she needed to.]

Come on, lets go inside and see if they've still got that feast at the great hall waiting for us.
[Rather than standing up and offering a hand, rather than letting her stand on her own two feet at all, Saito scooped her up in his arms, nuzzling his head against her as he did. He didn't want to let her go after all, and this seemed like the best way to accomplish that while still getting things done.]
Are you ready?
no subject
So instead of arguing or snapping back like she normally would have, she just let him do it, burying her head into his chest.]
Y-yeah...
