06th Sparkle is Starting anew

Owlery

[It's a few days after the masquerade, when he spirits are finally gone, that Yogi visits the owlery, the letter, he spent the better part of the last three days writing, in hand, and stands in front of one of the school owls, hesitation written over his features. The spirits have disappeared, but a part of them has stayed, he thinks. It has been the morning after the masquerade, that he gathered his courage with Gareki's help and finally went to see the spirits that kept appearing to him and since then... Well, it had been a lot to digest, what they told him. But ultimately, they left more questions open than answered, which is why he's where he is now, wondering whether this is a good idea. He has the feeling once this can of worms is open, it won't close again. And he might end up hurting the only closest people to a family that he has. What to do?]

Common Room

[Coming to terms with who you are is never easy, especially if you have no idea about half the things you are, but after a few good talks with his friends and taking a step forward, he's starting to accept it. At least he's smiling and talking to people again, not just curled into the tiniest ball he could do, hiding in the farthest corner of the couch. And he's knitting again, his cat usually in his lap, or playing with the yarn, as Yogi works on the new cute scarf for one of his friends. Or all of them.]

Library

[With the classes back, Yogi finds spending his time, when he's not cuddling his cat, mostly in the library. It's his last year and his grades really need improving, before NEWTs come along (Hirato's words, not his), so there are times when Yogi can be seen in one of the sunny corners, slumped against a book, expression on his face borderline desperate. Why are books written always in such a complicated manner?!]

[Hinata always had a quaffle ball in hand, throwing it up and down in the air in the middle of the common room. He just wanted to practise his catching a little bit, but at one point he might have throw it a little off as it hit a near by wall, making it's way toward the other as Hinata was quick to catch it before it managed to collide.]

I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for nearly hitting you.

[Yogi doesn't notice the ball at first, only looking up when he hears a yell and sees the ball approaching his head rapidly. He drops his knitting the same moment he cries out, raising his arms to shield himself. He's vaguely aware of Nyanperowna jumping off his lap, but that's the last of his worries, as he prepares for his head to become a pancake. It doesn't.

Instead the ball stops scant inches from his face.

Yogi still feels a little faint.]

Uh... aah... Ye... Yeah... Good reflexes...

[Hinata couldn't help but feel awful. Sure it didn't actually hit him, but still it was extremely close.]

...Thanks, but I am still sorry it nearly happened. At least you are okay.

It's okay... I'm used to things hitting me.

[His laugh is a little strained, as he thinks about his best friend and the countless clonks to his head. Those are Gareki's way of showing care, not a random quaffle thrown at his head... Speaking of which...]

Where did you get it anyway?

You shouldn't be use to it, unless it's because of sport or something.

[That was why he was awfully use to it himself. He held the Quaffle in his hand for a moment.]

It's mine. I've had it for a few years.

[Yogi laughs a little nervously, but doesn't go explaining why he's used to it. He can't do it without sounding like there's seriously something wrong with his head, and he doesn't mind it. Gareki's love is tough, that's all.]

Ah, I see. You must really like quidditch then, right? If you have your own quaffle.

Yeah and it's my team to maybe play professionally someday, it all depends though on my family.

[He smiled slightly holding firmly to the Quaffle for a moment, his smile fading slightly.]

But oh! What were you doing anyway?

Hmm... Sounds like a great plan!

[Yogi is a big advocate of following your dreams and doing things that make you happy. What startles him though is to hear it depends on something else than one's own will.]

Why does it depend on your family though? Don't they want you to play?

[He asks curiously. He knows people who have troubles like that. He thinks it isn't fair.

Only when Hinata asks is Yogi reminded of his abandoned work and bends down to lift it up. It appears to have survived, without any damage and he sighs in relief. He would hate it if all the work went down the drain.]

Knitting. I like doing it, it calms me down.

My family are all Muggles, so right now we have a rule that when I'm at home I talk about nothing to do with the other side. Just seems unfair to talk about it with someone who can never really experience it themselves.

[Well it was a rule he set himself because he felt bad talking about something he can do, but no one else in his family can. That he is aware of anyway. He goes to put the Quaffle down to the side before going to lean over slightly.]

What are you knitting?

Hmm...

[That makes sense. It makes Yogi smile how considerate Hinata is, he's sure his family is very warm and loving. People who would support each other.]

That's really caring of you, I'm sure you have a wonderful family. I'm sure they would like you to do what makes you happy.

[He says with an encouraging smile.]

I'm sure they'd be happy for you and encourage you.

[At the question he looks back at the knitting that he's resumed, fingers moving on their own, with practiced ease, always the same, repetitive movements.]

A scarf. Want one? [He offers. He likes to give self-made gifts to people and winter is coming. Everyone needs something to stay warm.] I can do other stuff as well. Beanies, gloves, sweaters, plushies...

[He nodded slightly, smiling, but not his usually bright and happy smile. More a sad one. But it was because he knew it would be a while before he could see them again and that was a thought he had at the moment.]

They are. They are the best, but then again most people would say that about family, right?

[He wasn't sure, well he was sure if he said they would, but at the same time he would know they'd never really be able to see what he could do if he were to pursue it. They would never watch any of his matches if he made it and really that would be something he would love them to see. He had already moved to sit down, he had no reason to stand up for the time being.]

You knit a lot of stuff by the sounds of it. It's not something I could do so you must be extremely talented, like wow amazing. [He shook his head slightly.] I couldn't ask for one, mostly because I'm sure plenty of people have already.

[Yogi's hands pause when he sees the gentle, warm smile on Hinata's face. Family, huh? He averts his gaze, long lashes lowering in something nostalgic and sad, something that takes over his smile as well.]

I think so...

[He answers, because he's not sure what to say. His birth family... well, he can't speak for that, since he never met them, aside of one short talk with the spirits of his parents. He doesn't even remember them, he doesn't know anything about them, he has no idea what kind of family they were. But... since they came to see him... He likes to imagine a good and warm one. A loving one. Like Hinata's.

As for his foster family... He knows they care. They are difficult, but they care and Gareki, who is like a little brother to him, makes him feel warm and good. So yes, he thinks Hinata is right. No matter the troubles they have, family is a good thing to have and he believes it's like that for most people.

But then the topic is back at knitting and he smiles more cheerfully again.]

I do. Oh, I also sew, but that takes more energy.

[Knitting takes more time, but it's ultimately more relaxing. But sewing is fun too and he likes how colorful he can make everything. He blushes when Hinata calls him talented and chuckles embarrassedly.]

Ah, not really. Just good with my hands. And usually people don't ask. I just make a bunch and give it to them. I'd be happy to make something for you, if you want it.

[Hinata smiled slightly, he figured they could just move onto the knitting since he was sure the other conversation was pretty much at the end. He tilted his head slightly for a brief moment, trying to figure out how sewing could be more tiring than knitting.]

How does sewing take more energy?

[He nodded slightly, so he just did it randomly. That should be fine.]

I would like that then.

I don't know.

[Yogi answers truthfully. It just does, for some reason. Maybe it's because of all the cutting of fabric, or the small stitches you had to make... It's somehow more work than just sitting and moving the knitting needles.

He smiles when Hinata says he'd like that.]

And what would you like? A scarf, or something else?

I guess a scarf would do, they are always warm for cold days, don't you think and I should really wear them more sometimes.

[He just sits there with a smile, he figured he might as well watch at least and not try and cause any problems for the time being.]

Scarfs are the best! [Yogi agrees with a smile.] They are fluffy and they keep you warm and you can snuggle in them.

[Yogi loves them too, he has a ton of them, warm and soft.]

Are there any colors you like a lot? Or a pattern?

I guess that is true. Especially if you wear a coat and gloves with it. Makes you all nice and toasty.

[She paused to think about it for only a moment.]

Orange and black are colours I like, but I'm not good with patterns to help there.

[Daphne was glad to be back and she had reason to. Sure she had wanted to go back to her life as a Auror, but really she was putting her sister first before she tried anything she wasn't happy with. She was aware of what she was planning and she was going to make sure she was safe and okay.

So she had come back, more so to see if she could get information while she was here. While waiting for a reply from someone she had gone to the library to pick up a book as she glances over. She couldn't help but notice they weren't happy.]

Are you okay?

[Yogi's head snaps up when he hears someone talking to him, but he goes pale when he sees it's the strictest teacher there is.]

I'm fine! I... I was just... taking a little break!

[She doesn't need to know he's almost fallen asleep.]

Are you sure? Because if you need help it's okay to ask.

[She didn't want to him worry or something, but she figured she would still try and help if she could anyway.]

I... uh... yes...

[Although it's probably obvious he isn't. He laughs in embarrassment, before admitting.]

I'm just not the book type I'm afraid.

[It's hard for him to learn that way. But if he wants to - or if Hirato wants him to - raise his grades, he has to learn how to do it. It's the theoretical part that's insufficient, he always gets the practical part on the first try.]

Then I'm sure we could try and find another way for you to learn. Not everyone is the book type after all, so finding a type you like makes it that little easier.

[She just had no idea where to start, but didn't stop her from thinking about it though.]

Like... some use songs to be able to remember, but that is just an example.

[Yogi thinks about that. He knows he learns best by doing it, even better if it involves fun, or ends up being of use. He's mastered the aguamenti spell last year by trying to water his gardens with it. At the end of the day, he conjured up something that resembled a small river.]

Fun. I learn with fun.

[He also knows most of the fairy tales he owns by heart, so it's not like he can't memorize. It's just the school books that are boring and complicated. And it's in turn also hard to phrase the answers in a correct, acceptable way on tests. He sighs.]

I'm good at spells, but I always fail the theory. It's hard to phrase, or understand what it says.

[She tapped her finger lightly against her chin as she thought it over, there were plenty for ways to learn and make it fun at the same time. But nothing came to the top of her mind right away.Bt she was sure she would think it over while she spoke at least.]

Then try and make a game from it. Pick out points you need to learn and make a game in order to help learn from it.

[He looks at Daphne with a startled expression, because he hadn't thought of that. He's not sure how exactly he could make it work, but it'd definitely be worth the try. Better than falling asleep above the books.]

I... That's a good idea! I'll try that!

[He says and gives her a beaming smile.]

[She liked to believe everyone could do well if they tried, but now she wonders if perhaps finding a way that suits them would benefit that as well.]
