No specific time frame, other than summer break.
A. Just Like a Circus.
[ Diagon Alley. No matter what time of year it was, this particular part of the wizard world seemed to never stop being busy. The streets were thick with people, some he recognized from various places (dirty dealings or school, take your pick) and some were strangers. But it was the two rambunctious children that raced squealing past him, their mother yelling after them to behave or their father would be cross with them, that caught his attention.
It wasn't a forethought, per say. But somewhere in Gareki's mind, he wondered if he could have ever had that kind of normalcy in his own youth. Instead, his mind was filled with the knowledge that his parents sold him off and that he had just enough good fortune to wind up with adoptive siblings, albeit very poor ones that often left him feeling guilty.
The children giggled despite their mother, and he silently stuck his hands in his pockets as he sidestepped their angry mother, keeping himself forward toward Gringotts. ]
B. Too Hot, It's Really Too Hot!
[ The thing about summer was that while Gareki didn't mind the heat, it also didn't mean he liked it. Some days just made him feel like he was boiling from the inside out, and today was one of them. This only meant he was in a miserable mood, wishing more than ever it would cool down already. ]
Tch. Even a little rain would make this better.
[ Sweat beaded on his brow, leaving him to reach up to wipe at it with his forearm, a small disgusted grumble following as he rolled his shorts higher and slipped his feet out of his shoes. He waded into a fountain, not caring how it would look to anyone. ]
C. You're the City Lights
[ It's night time in the middle of downtown London. If Gareki bothered to look at his mobile, it would probably tell him that it was sometime around 9 PM. Not that time really mattered, when he promised to be there in ten minutes.
While the daytime was uneventful, Gareki had business now. Business of the strangely legitimate kind. Sort of.
In a dark alley, he rested against a brick wall waiting. And, within minutes he was greeted by a man with mousy hair and a shifty nature about him that set him apart from Gareki. The meeting didn't take long, but there was an exchange of money for a slip of paper, and a promise that Gareki would get his shipment of phones by the end of the week.
Gareki pocketed the paper and made his way back out, down the street. ]

So~ What have you been up to since school year ended?
[He asks conversationally.]

[ All assumption and all fairly accurate on Gareki's part. If you could consider his tinkering being studies. However, what he isn't really saying is that he's also been working for cash. Working to keep himself and family above water, despite not seeing them. What's more, he had to find funds toward the device he was building. ]
I better not need to tutor someone in a higher grade than me when we get back.
[ Gareki turns to a machine set into a wall and starts pressing buttons. He orders two tickets, pays for them, and then hands one to Yogi. ]
Don't lose this.

That's not true! I so have!
[Except, okay, it wasn't a school book he touched, but his favorite anthology of folk tales. It's like fairy tales, only better. More... thrilling, is perhaps a good word. Terrifying at times and intense, when you let your imagination loose.
He smiles sheepishly and rubs with his index finger under his nose.]
You forget this will be my last year. Hirato wouldn't survive it, if I needed tutoring from you.
[He eyes the small piece of paper with curiosity and genuine interest, twisting it and twirling it in his hand, but doesn't let it go, trying to ignore how strange it feels, having said those fated words. 'Last year'... It really is the last, isn't it?]
Where are you staying?
[He asks, to distract himself from the looming issue, but also because he genuinely wants to know. Gareki never mentions any relatives and Yogi sorta worries.]
I could come visit and we can hang out.

But there was something a little liberating and sad about being Yogi free on his own final year at Hogwarts, now that the older boy mentioned it. He pushed the thought away with a soft snort as he moved through the undergound, letting the ticket machine suck the ticket up and spit it back out. Following that, he moved to the other side expectantly, Yogi at least smart enough to follow his lead. ]
I don't want to tell you where I stay.
[ Note that he didn't say 'live' or 'home'. ]

He sits down next to Gareki, still surveying the now signed ticket, before looking at his friend.]
You could just come stay with us.
[He says without batting an eyelash. He worries and he knows his guardians won't mind. No matter how they are, neither Hirato nor Tsukitachi could leave a child alone. Not to make assumptions, but...]
It could be fun!

[ Gareki snorts at the idea, thinking it would seem more like a nightmare than fun. But then, he also really enjoys his space. With Yogi around and his guardians making assumptions, it felt more restrictive than anything.
Once the device he was tinkering with was done, he would probably give Yogi one and tell him to give him a call if he ever wanted to hang out. But, that also depended on the shipment of phones he was waiting on and how well everything worked. ]
I'll send an owl when I want to get together.
no subject
Maybe not.
[His eyes are twinkling with amusement, when he looks at Gareki again.]
But they have their moments. Besides, I'm pretty sure they are both sadists, who get their twisted pleasure from other's suffering and misfortune.
[Especially Hirato. Though Tsukitachi is usually pretty chill.
He beams at Gareki and nods.]
I'm almost always outside, so you can come find me as well. I usually have fun in the Diagon Alley.

[ Whether his response is to Yogi being in Diagon Alley or his guardians being sadists was left for interpretation. At their core, Gareki knows that they're taking care of Yogi so he doesn't hate them or anything. He's just not an up close fan, their mothering extended to outsiders as it was.
Gareki's saved from further talking as the train pulls up and a sea of people step out. Without thinking, he grabs Yogi's arm to make sure they're not separated and leads them in when it's safe. He immediately makes for one of the seats and slides into it. ]

Huh? Uh... Gareki?
[But before he has time to realize what's happening, he's sitting next to his friend, face strangely warm. Oh. Okay. Gareki just got them on a train. At least he thinks it's a train. It looks nothing like the Hogwarts Express, he thinks, looking around, before finally his eyes land on Gareki again and he smiles.]
I didn't know Muggle trains were this shiny!
