Great Hall; Morning

[The morning post is a very normal sight in the Great Hall. Many owls come by to drop mail for the students. One particular owl flies to the Hufflepuff table and promptly stands on the table in front of the recipient. Shiraishi made sure to move a goblet full of water next to him with a smile.]

Poor Ran... it must have been tiring for you.

[It was probably letter from his little sister? Yukari was the only one Shiraishi had told where he had gone to, because he wanted to keep in touch with her at least.

... well, it definitely wasn't from his little sister. She wouldn't send him a howler. Oh boy. Perhaps he could still run out of the Great Hall with the letter before the howler sets off-]

KURANOSUKE!

[Welp, too late. And that's definitely his older sister's voice.]

WHY WOULD YOU RUN AWAY FROM HOME YOU STUPID LITTLE BROTHER?! MOM AND DAD ARE SO UPSET WITH YOU! I AM TOO, BUT I'M MORE UPSET I HAD TO HEAR FROM YUKARI ABOUT YOUR PLANS! THE NERVE OF YOU! YOU'RE LUCKY I DIDN'T TELL OUR PARENTS WHERE YOU ARE YET!

I'M GIVING YOU A CHANCE TO RECONSIDER AND COME BACK ON YOUR OWN! A HEIR DOES NOT ACT LIKE THIS! YOU WERE TAUGHT TO RESPECT AND OBEY!

COME HOME OR I'LL COME THERE AND DRAG YOU BACK MYSELF!

[With the final yell, the howler sets itself in flames and disappears, leaving behind Shiraishi who just buries his face into his hands. Freaking great.]

[Shiraishi will be found from around the school after this embarrassing moment, mostly keeping himself busy and trying to not to meet anyone's eyes.]

[Let it be said, that a Howler is one of those things Yogi can tell apart from a great distance and blindly. Hirato and Akari-sensei made sure to regularly send him ones, for some reason, much to his chagrin. When the tired looking owl sits down onto the table, his hands are already halfway up to his ears and he puts them down only after the last embers die on the table. Not that his hands helped much, though.

His friend looks utterly defeated and Yogi grabs a plate, putting a generous amount of chocolate onto it, before handing it to Shiraishi, his other hand rubbing the slender back.]

Here, eat this. It will make it better.

... Your sister sounded pretty upset?

[He offers, in case Shiraishi wants to talk about it.]

[Shiraishi lowered his hands and looked at Yogi and then the chocolate before taking one of the pieces with a small 'Thank you'. He wasn't usually a very big fan of chocolate, but he might as well eat some this time.]

She's always upset with me. Though I guess this time I gave her a reason to be.

[He's sad to hear that... Disputes in the family sounded tough. Though, not like Yogi had much room to talk, he wasn't living in a poster picture of a family either, but... at least he knew he could talk to them, even when they were upset with him - after he survived certain death.]

... Have you run away?

[He asks gently, hesitatingly. It's not really any of his business, but he worries and after hearing that message (having his hands over his ears really didn't help), the conclusion was natural to jump to.]

I guess you could call it that. I prefer saying I chose my own path, but... it really looks like I'm running away to everyone else.

[It's what Weiss has said, it's what his sister, and his parents, think. It's because his real reasons are something he cannot and doesn't want to say. Not to them, as they wouldn't understand.]

[He listens to Shiraishi talk, wondering about that. He doesn't think there's anything wrong with choosing your own path, but he doesn't think it's good to discard and dispute with your family over it. How could you be happy living your dream, if you hurt people and burnt bridges over it? But he knows how stubborn family can get, so it's not like he can't understand avoiding talking about issues. He sometimes did too, until he finally summoned the courage to approach Hirato... Though he always went to Tsukitachi first.]

I don't suppose talking about it with them had been an option.

School yard

[After that 'small' incident earlier in the morning, Kisumi had wandered around the school yard trying to find the boy who had got the howler message. He wasn't sure why he wanted to do this but since it was one of his roommates, he at least wanted to make sure that everything was okay.

Finally Kisumi spotted the boy he was looking for and wide, friendly smile appeared on his face as he moved closer. He didn't want to startle Shiraishi so he tried to make sure of that the other had seen him first.]

[Shiraishi had been tending to some of the plants near the doorways when he finally notices Kisumi after a while. He wondered how long the boy had been standing there.]

Oh. Hey Kisumi. What brings you here?

[kisumi_s]

[A small, friendly smile appeared on Kisumi's face as he heard the other's words. At least Shiraishi didn't ask him to leave.]

Well, this might sound a bit weird but I was looking for you.

Looking for me? Ah, is this because of what happened this morning...?

Wild Card - Hallway

[Minako had taken a bite from her food as she had left the Great Hall. She heard what had happened and it was one of those times she was glad she had muggles for parents.]

Must suck to have your family be mad at you for running away.

[What a good way to start a conversation.]

I expected them to be. It's not that big of a deal.

[It bothers him more that he didn't have time to leave the hall before it started.]

Considering all the talks in the Hall right now, I say it's a pretty big deal to them.

[Not that it happens all that much anyway.]

[He really doesn't care even if people talk about him because of this.]

[Hanayo had been eating when the howler had arrived and it was loud enough to cause the young girl to jump slightly, nearly enough to cause her to drop the food that she had been currently eating. Poor guy who got it though as she nervously looked over.

She really was not sure what to do or say really.]

[Shiraishi looked over at the frightened girl with a small smile.]

Sorry. I hoped I would be fast enough to leave, so others wouldn't be disturbed.

I-it's fine. Howlers tend to go off quickly so they could cause a scene.

[She thinks anyway, but she didn't know as she never got one before.]

I haven't really had a Howler before, so it was new an unexpected.

[ Hey, what's this tiny pink girl doing? Lying on the ground somewhere around the school like she's dead or something. Maybe she's just sleeping.

Her clothes look like a school uniform, but it sure isn't this school's uniform. Must be a new transfer student... ]

[Shiraishi notices the tiny girl on the ground and hurries over to her. He checks her pulse just in case before shaking her gently.]

Hey? What's wrong?

[ She's slowly waking up and opening her eyes, not really making a good first impression here with how tired she looks. Something's not right. Might be the weird guy next to her, she'd probably freak out if she was more awake and realized it. ]

... Where... is this?

[backtobasics]

... Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Come on, I'll take you to the hospital wing. You don't look so well.

Great Hall

[Sorry, there appears to be someone from the Slytherin table who is currently laughing at the fact it wasn't him that got a howler this time. It was always nice to know he and HIkaru were not the only ones.]

... I'll remember to laugh the next time you get a howler.

[Of course, he doesn't know Kaoru or anything, but there might be a time when he'll receive a howler. Not that Shiraishi would most likely laugh even if he said so.]

[Because sometimes his parents just did not pay attention to them when they did something wrong.]
