The 1st - A Quiet Summer Vacation?

OUTSIDE, IMMEDIATE CAMPUS GROUNDS

She was there early, but it didn't really matter. Her family on all sides were just too busy this year to take her back, and it made her wonder why things had to be like that.

Still, Adela sort of liked the some-what empty campus. Summer homework was easy to finish without any distractions, she could spend more time with Saggia, and she had to admit that Hogwarts was a beautiful campus in the summer. In fact, on a beautiful day with few white clouds in the sky and the sun shining bright, it was hard to resist taking her broom for a spin around campus. She didn't really have a chance before between getting it for her birthday and exams, so what better time than right then and there!

It wasn't hard to see her racing with her owl in the sun, and she grinned and laughed before the two landed on the roof, seating herself and relaxing a bit as she looked over the broom and enjoyed the company of her pet. It was kind of nice and isolated up here... There was nothing in the world quite like flying.

LIBRARY, COMMON AREA

It was probably a strange sight, to have one of the summer students actually studying during her stay at Hogwarts. Even stranger still was that she was in fact not a Ravenclaw but clearly wearing Hufflepuff colours even with summer clothing. The strangest thing at all was that it wasn't homework she was researching, but instead it was reading Hogwarts: A History with other wizarding history books piled beside the luxurious chair she had seated herself in. She'd gotten enough sunshine for one day, and with most of her summer homework completed... Even three years later, she couldn't help her desire to learn about the world she had no idea existed until she turned eleven.

Still, it was quiet even for a library. Not that she minded the silence, but part of her wished she was allowed to bring Saggia into the library, if only for the company...

HUFFLEPUFF, COMMON AREA

A long day, a quiet but bright night where sunset hadn't happened yet. It was nice to sit by the fire even if the summer evening was already quite warm, but the ice water provided in the rooms helped. Still, she wasn't tired yet, so maybe... This would help her get there. If only so that she could get away from that cat for a little while.

Why did it like her so much? Sure it was cute, but it wasn't like she was its owner. Didn't it belong to that girl Naminé?

There were a lot of transfer students coming in, she thought to herself absently. It was a little confusing, but it wasn't like it was her business. She didn't even feel like reading anymore, but what else could she do?

"... Nothing. Finished most've my summer homework already," Adela just frowned, feeling more and more uncomfortable. Just what did Naminé want from her? There had to be something, or she wouldn't bother, right? Right...

So at that point, it was just figuring out what the older girl's motive was. Maybe she was going to accuse her of feeding the cat treats behind her back or something. It couldn't have been help with homework, she was a year below... Maybe she wanted to borrow her owl? No, there were plenty of school owls... So what was it??

Naminé wasn't after anything but then she wasn't the best at showing her intentions. Her head tilted curiously to the side.

"Oh? I've finished too. Are you excited for classes?"

She was trying her best to keep the conversation going but it sounds like Adela was worried about something. Naminé couldn't guess what it might be though.

"They're still over a month away, there's nothing to get excited for yet," Again the answer was grumpy, and she found that the conversation was getting on her nerves more and more. She just couldn't figure this girl out. One would think that several months of being roommates would help, but no. It was really getting to her, until finally...

"Just what do you want with me?" It came out. Before Adela could stop her words the question was asked, and her breath caught the moment she had realized just how snappish and irritated that question had sounded. What was wrong with her? Why had she asked that!? That sounded more accusatory than she would have liked too, and she couldn't help the feeling of absolute dread that sunk her stomach and made it impossible to breathe. In fact, there were only two words that could accurately describe what Adela was feeling then and there.

Oh shit.

Namine blinked at her question unsure how to answer. Her fingers stopped moving and Snow meows in displeasure at the sudden change. She hadn't ever been asked that question before and the truth was she hadn't put a lot of thought into the other. She mostly thought of her sister and at times those from previous years that she considered friends but even those thoughts were simple.

"I..." She paused trying to figure out what to say. "I like you..." As a friend of course but Namine really wasn't good at talking to others about this sort of thing. It's not like you asked to become friends, it just happens.

Right?

What? She froze, feeling right-headed as she finally took a breath before she stood, looking away from Naminé. At last, she shook her head and managed to get words out, "I-I'm gonna go."

She didn't take long to just try to stride to her room, completely unsure of just how she was supposed to react to that. Of all the things she has expected as response, 'I like you' hadn't even come close to crossing her mind. Just... What was she supposed to do or say? She hadn't had anyone at all just... up and say that... Especially not after she blurted out something stupid like that.

Namine watches Adela unsure of what to do or say. Snow took the chance to yawn making a cute squeaking noise in her palms. Namine looked down at the kitten, her confusion still evident as she talked to the kitten.

"You shouldn't do that. You know you shouldn't." But Adela was gone and Namine was left in the common area lone.
