3rd Case: Duelling Practice

An Empty Classroom

[Pretending she hadn't just appeared here one day for no reason is getting easier by the day; now you wouldn't think any oddly about Kirigiri unless you'd been paying careful attention. But her efforts at learning the skillset of the locals aren't complete yet, as far as she's come. There're still the more obscure spells in each year's syllabus she missed on her first skim through... and, perhaps more importantly, the ability to put spells to practical use. Specifically in a combat situation, because Kirigiri has no illusions about how much trouble she can not get herself into.

It's late in the afternoon after most official classes, and thus empty classrooms were available for students to practice in. You can find this lavender-haired sixth year in one of them, practicing her wandwork. She'll be practicing her stances and casting spells under different types of pressure- rapidly, or while moving up and down across the room- and when uninterrupted, her methodical efficiency is almost impressive. There're a few spellbooks across different grades in a pile on a table, which she occasionally references if she's not getting a particular spell.

While occupied, the classroom has room for more. Do you have the inclinations to join her for whatever reason?]

[ The door opens with an almost imperceptible creak as Tokiya eases himself into the room, a textbook under one arm. ]

Kirigiri-san. Apologies for being late, I had some extra work to finish.

[ But they're both here now, which is what matters. He walks over and sets his book next to hers, retrieving his own wand from inside his robes. ]

We can start now.

[As a sixth-year herself, she obviously understands the sixth-year's unfortunate workload. Kirigiri nods in acknowledgement as Tokiya prepares, adjusting her wand-grip while she waits.]

Okay. What do we start with?

[Seth hears the commotion in one of the rooms and goes to check it out. He peeks his head inside and watches as a desk flies across the room.]

Practicing hard I see.

[He stays at the doorway, leaning against the frame while assuming it's the safest place to stand in the room.]

[She pauses and glances up at the voice, nodding in acknowledgement when she spots him.]

I'd like to be prepared in case another 31st October happens again.

[That's referring to the monster break-in. But in general, duelling is a good life skill. With her comment done, Kirigiri re-summons the desk to its old position and gets ready to try again.]

[He folds his arms over his chest looking at her curiously.]

You think it will happen again?

[tailoredgloves]

It might. We don't know why it did the first time yet.

[Kirigiri pauses. She's not brushing it off until she finds some sort of explanation behind it.]

Besides, I'm sure other situations would happen eventually, whether in this school or out. [Sticky situations are drawn to her, honestly.]

[unbridledtiger]

[Seth nods.]

Sounds like you're going to become an Auror.

[tailoredgloves]

It's an option.

[A bit too government-aligned for her tastes, though she was definitely keeping it in mind should her stay here stretch on long enough.]

And what are the others?

[He's more interested in her than practicing.]

[She shrugs, pausing again to address him.]

There're plenty of careers out there, so I'm not going to close my options so soon is all.

[unbridledtiger]

[Seth awkwardly scratches the back of his head.]

I guess I just don't know what they are.

[Technically he's a sixth year but this is also his first year here.]
