7th Flight is jolly

QUIDDITCH PRACTICE OF ANY KIND

[The one thing that Sano liked about January was, that two months after the Quidditch season started, a lot more students started to take interest in it and gathered enough courge to be willing to try. Though sometimes it took a bit of convincing on his part, but if he knew he student wanted to play, he wouldn't give in. Sometimes people needed a little push. So it happens, that he's got some more private lessons than he anticipate, but that's all fine with him. He doesn't mind coaching young talents for future generations of his beloved sport. And even if the skill doesn't come natrally, all you needed was determination and discipline. There's no amount of talent that could measure up to hard work.

Of course he's still coaching the house teams as well, usually during the afternoon. Practice is ain full gear now, with the house cup up and running, the point piling up more rapidly than the coins in Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. No matter the weather, Sano's up his broom and instructing the player almost every day now, sometimes even twice a day, yelling out various instructions as he's at it.

It's a wonder no one has found him slumped in his chair in the referee's room, trying to catch his breath yet. The amount of flying is slightly getting to him, but it's still bearable. He's more exhausted than he should be, but he's mostly okay. A few minutes of rest and a goodnight of sleep usually do the trick.]

TIME OFF

[The other thing Sano likes about January is the National Quidditch League. Being a former pro player he's got a free entry to all of his former team's games, along with anyone who's in his company and if he wants to, he can usually convince people to get him free tickets for other games as well. It's not unusual to find him up on a Saturday morning, dressed in his casual robes, heading out of the castle, towards Hogsmead, where he can apparate to whichever stadion the game's held at.

His colleagues and friends usually know what he's up to, since he tends to randomly invite them, in case they feel like seeing a game. He's alwayshappy for company and he won't let anyone, who wants to see a goood game, miss their opportunity. They either meet him up before heading to Hogsmead together, or outside of the village on a designated meeting point.]

[ Okay she knows he's just helping with the armor, but she's still not sure about how to feel about him being in her personal space like this. Thankfully it doesn't last so she doesn't end up having to make a decision on it and instead just makes to take off.

Yeah that extra weight is really hard to keep balance with! It takes her a little bit to stop wobbling and become steady, which has her sighing because how is she supposed to keep the Quaffle out of the hoops when she can't even stay balanced on the broom? Yeah it'd probably come with practice, but that she's having difficulty initially can't be a good sign. ]

Uh, what're we doing first, Professor Harada? [ Besides not falling off the broom, anyway. ]

[While she's making her way to the hoops, he takes out the quaffle and gets on hsi own broom, following her.]

To start you off and warm you up, we'll play a round of catch.

[He answers and holds up the big red ball.]

I'll throw it at you and you'll try to catch it. At first we'll keep it in one direction, then gradually increase the difficulty and speed.

[Once she gets used to it and a feel for the entire thing.]

[ She nods, sighing a bit because... Catching this thing is going to be hard. It's not that she had difficulty when they were testing Chaser, but it's surprising just how much the protective padding is bothering her. Maybe it's psyching her out a little bit.

Regardless, she just has to keep trying until she gets the hang of it right? Right. ]

Ready when you are.

[Sano floats mit-air, several feet from Adela, taking a moment to enjoy the familiar weight of the quaffle in his hands. Not that he got to hold it much as the keeper, but feeling it in his hands, holding it, feeling it's fabric and weight has something nostalgic. It reminds him of his tryout. He was trying for Chaser first, but then the keeper graduated and Sano found out what his true calling was.

He wonders if it was be too unfair to throw her a vicious one for the first. He's feeling mischievous and for old times sake... He shakes his head at himself. What is he thinking? Of couse it wouldn't be fair.

He flies towards her, eyeing the first hoop, measuriing the distance between him and the hoop, imgining the power he'll need to give the ball for a moment, before throwing. The ball flies up, light in the air and Sano spins on his broom, making the straw hit the quaffle in perfect timing and angle, like he's done it a tons of times. Which, to be fair, he had. Deflecting with his broom had been one of his favorite moves when he still played.]

[ Honestly if he had she'd be stuck wondering just what the hell his definition of 'easy' was.

It's apparent that she saw where he was looking by the fact that, when he does spin the broom to hit the Quaffle, she's already in front of the first hoop and ready to catch the Quaffle one-handed. That's before she tosses it back to him, flying back to a more neutral position so that she's ready for the next one.

She's not about to try no hands just yet, not when she's still not used to the weight, but... Maybe she's getting the hang of it? ]

Good!

[He catches the deflected Quaffle with a grin. He's decided to go easy on her for now and target just one hoop, until she feels comfortable enough. That doesn't mean he's just gonna throw straight at her and make it even easier. He's flying back and forth in front of the hoop, looking for a good angle to throw from. Finally he decides on a sharp angle from above and speeds up, using the momentum to give power to the ball.]

[ There's less time to react this time, and she urges her broom to race faster back to the first hoop before she tries to catch it. She ends up going down a few feet then, the Quaffle braced against her chest and held there with one arm. Might as well use the padding to her advantage if she has to wear it!

... Okay she might feel a little winded from impact but she'd insist that she's okay regardless.

Again she tosses the Quaffle out to Sano, watching him carefully and waiting for what he's going to do next. First hoop twice in a row? She has to wonder if he's doing that to ease her in or perhaps to keep her in one spot before throwing at the other end... ]

[A pleased smirk steels it's way on his face, when he sees her catch that.]

Good reflexes!

[Also, she's actually pretty fast. A usefull ability for a keeper. necessary even.]

You make a good keeper!

Oh, by the way, you don't need to catch it all the time. It's enough to smack it away. Imagine it's your hated person's head and kick, punch, or slap it all you like!

Huh? Oh, right, okay.

[ It's hard to stop herself from flushing just a little, pleased to hear the compliment even if she would deny it was because of that.

... Kicking, huh... She'd have to kick that in mind. It'd be easier than punching or slapping anyway, though maybe she could block with her broom like he had done earlier to shoot--

Wait. ]

There really isn't anyone I hate that much, Professor...

[Sano chuckles at her response.]

Oh come on! I bet there's someone who's utterly annoying you by just existing.

[Everyone had someone like that. He had his own row of rivals and frienemies. And without a warning he shoots the Quaffle again, this time in a upper right cross angle, while caling with a broad grin on his face.]

And stop calling me professor! Just 'sir' is fine.

[ She shakes her head, though with the throw a surprised squeak leaves her and she bolts up there, feeling that the angle is a little awkward but kicking the Quaffle as hard as she can regardless.

If Sano caught it, he'd likely feel the strength behind it too. Even if it's been a few years, she hasn't forgotten how to kick like the football player she had been. ]

Right, sir... But Seriously, there isn't anyone like that.

[ Granted Kaoru could be annoying, but after their recent conversation it's not quite to that degree anymore. ~~It might be Aidou soon enough though considering that humiliating experience...~~ ]

[The kick is splendid and when Sano catches it, he's surprised it has the strength to push him back a little. Huh. He thought the mental image of bashing someone's head might give her a better feeling for the necessary power, but it looks, like it's not really needed.]

Nevermind that. I think you have enough power already.

[He throw at her again, this time with a little more force than previously, testing her strength.]

You did some kind of sport, am I right?!

[ She tries to catch it again, but whether because she doesn't have a good enough grip or not enough upper body strength she ends up fumbling the ball and dropping it.

That kinda hurt, too... ]

Uh... I played football, before coming to Hogwarts. I was a forward.

[That made sense.

He shoots forward and catches the Quaffle, thinking of how it also explains how good she is with kicks, while she seems to feel secure enough with her hands only to catch. Having grown up in a part Muggle household, with two squib siblings and an athlete for a father, he knows this and that about the most popular sport of all times.]

See this is why I told you to smack it.

[He says, but it doesn't sound strict and he's still smiling.]

If you hadn't attempted to catch it, you'd have sent it flying.

[She was there and she reached it. If she opted to strike it, it would have made a beautiful counter.]

Deflecting the ball is also better in regards of sending it back to a team mate. It's faster and doesn't give your opponent the chance of figuring out who you're throwing at. You just need a good eye and quick wit.

And if you fumble, like now, it's like inviting the rival team to steal the ball.

[With an encouraging smile, he throws at her again, at a similar angle, but higher force, nearing a professional chaser shot. Time to raise the level a little, he thinks with a smirk.]

[ Again she gets there in the nick of time, attempting to punch it this time due to the angle. This time she does manage to smack it away, but the force behind the ball also seems to push her back and send her into a tailspin.

Thankfully she recovered before hitting the ground and flew back up, but it was clear that she was kind of dizzy from it too. ]

G-Got it... I think...

[ Give her a second, everything needs to stop spinning first. ]

Whoa!

[He catches the Quaffle, watching with horror, as she spins dangerously close towards the hoops. He's next to her within the blink of an eye, steadying her.]

Are you alright?

[He lets her catch her breath, thinking how physical strength is one of the things they need to work on. Quidditch shots tended to be viious, a lot more than the one he threw just now. He's angry at himself for misjudging. Things like this aren't supposed to happen.]

I'm sorry. I overestimated your strength.

[He gives her another encouraging smile.]

Since you are so impressive as a player.

[ Eventually she's still, breathing slowing as she looks up at Sanosuke again. Okay, not feeling like she's about to hurl, that's a good sign. Even the dizziness fades quickly enough and she's feeling more steady again. ]

I'm okay... Guess I need to work on upper body strength.

Are you sure? Do you need to go to the hospital wing?

[Just for a few minutes of rest at least. They were only trying out, no need to overdo it. He smiles though when she concedes to needing to train more. he'll be happy to help.]

Don't you worry, we'll whip you in shape!

I'm okay, I'm not dizzy any more so we can keep going.

[ She shakes her head, trying to sound convincing because even if that had almost been bad she's not hurt! That and... Well, she doesn't want to stop. ]

[He watches her for a moment longer, deciding whether its's wise to keep going. She seemed fine and judging by the look in her eyes... she wanted to continue.

He can understand that feeling quite well.]

Alright then.

[He finally says with a smile.]

For a little while longer.

[He flies back to his previous position and decides there are different ways of upping the level a bit. With a smirk, he aims this time for the left hoop and shoots.]

[ Once again she darts over there, this time using the tail of her broom to knock the Quaffle away. She really needs to work on braking though, that was a little more spin than needed... Right. That's a different hoop than before though, so she has to be more alert to where he's going to throw.

There was no way she'd be able to keep this up all day, but she sincerely doubts Sanosuke is going to keep it up for that long. ]
