8th Flight is As you please
A) Morning
[Morning is as usually filled with classes, or early training and has Sano yawning wide enough to get tears in his eyes, when he walks down the corridor to prepare the class before the students arrive. The morning air wakes him up pretty fast though and soon he's full with energy, all wide grins and loud, resonating voice with which he greets the first years.]
Ready folks? Let's do this!
[After the early clss there's breakfast in the Great Hall, which he enjoys with a nice black tea to warm him up, a filling food, the Daily Prophet, or a pleasant chat with a fellow teacher.]
B) Day
[The day is spent similar to the morning, with some afternoon classes, quidditch, or working in his office, trying to solve the Ravenclaw, or the recent Slytherin problem. Seriously, did Matsuoka HAVE TO get himself a month worth of detention? He wants to try and approach Daphne with it, to let the boy off at least for the training, but he doesn't think she'll be cooperative. She's way too strict.
If he's not working he can be usually seen in the hallways, or outside, chatting with one of his female colleagues, enjoying a little socialization.]
C) Evening
[With the peak of the Quidditch season, he sometimes works late into the night, thinking about schedules, tryouts, team rosters, private lessons and other stuff he needs to think about. It has been a while since he went out and had fun in Hogsmead, but he doesn't mind it much. After work, or maybe during a short break he can be seen taking walks outside, near the lake, or around the Quidditch Pitch. Sometimes he catches some late students doing self-practice, or meets Jiirou, or another late bird whom he chats up.
He knows he should be stricter, but he can't help himself be lenient about these late evening hours around curfew. The students had so much wor, they rarely had the time for themselves, or their private lives, so he usually lets them off easily, but makes a habit of escorting them to their room, so they don't get into trouble witht the other teachers.]

Evening
This time, in particular, during the day it lead her to brushing past him rather irritably. She didn't stop to apologize, no flirting of her own, just a soft 'hmph' as he she kept walking, head held high. Determined not to look at Sano.
By evening, she's sulking at the bar. Acting as anything other than her usual self, waving people off to tell them she's fine, smiling brightly like she was. But people can tell, and she didn't want anyone speculating as to why she was in a mood. So, instead she finds herself walking back to the castle with a bottle of ale in her hand, but it's mostly full and she's only nursing it. She's also fairly sober for once. Perhaps that's why she was walking slower than usual, enjoying the night air despite the chill. She didn't notice Sano near the pitch, though. Her eyes didn't wander that direction... ]

Someone had bumped into him without an apology and when he had turned around with a 'Hey watch out', he only saw the back of Ran's head and a sound he had never heard from her before. Well, not directed at him. It's true that they haven't gotten to hang out much recently, but she hadn't even looked at him. It made him wonder if he did something wrong without realizing it. It would be a long time since that lat happened, but it was of course possible. Only he has no idea what.
With a sigh, he averts his gaze from the village, only to notice a figure marching on the road, heading back to the castle. Well, talk about the devil. If he had no idea about what he did wrong, it's about time to find out.]
Ran!
[He calls out to her and jogs to where she is.]
no subject
Aaah, if it isn't Sano~ [ A bubbly giggle as she raises her ale to her lips. ] Beautiful night, isn't it?
no subject
Stalling, are we? She must be really upset, if she doesn't want to even talk. Well, no need to delay the inevitable then.]
Truly breathtaking.
[He answers her question. It might be true, but the weather's not what they're going to talk about now.]
Say Ran, I wanted to ask you something. You seemed upset today... Did something happen?
no subject
She raises her hand to wave it off, still smiling. ]
Ah~ That? One of the students called me old today.
[ A lie, but hopefully he's not too smart to catch onto that. Even if lying to him felt terrible. To emphasize her lie she lets the bubbly exterior drop for a moment, only to look as annoyed as she truly felt. ]
I'm in my prime, dammit! Those brats don't know anything.
no subject
[He really wants to believe her, but that didn't explain that huff, or the fact that she hadn't looked at him. Maybe she had been just busy, or in a hurry... But he still had a bad feeling about this. He notices that she's not wearing the pendant he gifted her for her birthday today.
He wonders if he should try to take a trip across her mind. He would have done so already, if he didn't think of it as a rude invasion of privacy. But maybe he can still pull it out of her. But he still has no solid proof it's him, even though he has the feeling it is.
Maybe falling back into their old pattern will be more helpful? He wonders what she'll do if he accepts her answer.
He gives her a flirty wink and smiles his trademark smile.]
Kid knows nothing. I know first hand that you're definitely in your prime.
no subject
Today, the flirtations annoyed her and when she speaks, despite trying her hardest to keep it out, there's an edge to her voice. ]
I bet you say that to all the girls~
[ Rangiku takes a drink of her ale and side steps him so she could start walking back toward the castle again. ]
no subject
She turns his back on him and starts walking away, but he won't have it. They're solving this, whether she liked it or not. Before she can get out of his reach, he's grabbing her wrist.]
Wait. How about we drop this game and you tell me what's really wrong? If I somehow upset you, I am truly sorry, but I'd really wish you'd tell me straight out, so we can sort it out.
no subject
However, him grabbing her wrist only makes things worse, and it causes her to jerk her wrist from his grasp. ]
It'll sort itself out on its own, so if you'll excuse me I'm going to take a bath and go to bed.
no subject
Maybe it will. But that won't really solve anything, will it?
[He replies, because whatever happened - and he still has no idea what - and he was the cause, he was running into danger of repeating it, which is something he'd really rather not.]
If I did something wrong, I want to apologize properly. I can't do that without knowing what it was.
[He hesitates for a moment over what he wants to say next, but in the end, he figures if that won't make her spill, then nothing will and at least she'll be warned.]
You know I could just use legilimency on you, right? But I'd really prefer if you told me yourself.
no subject
Secondly--
Rangiku whirled around on him, eyes narrowed and sharp. Threatening. ]
Threatening me into talking isn't going to make me want to any faster, Sano. And if you use legilimency on me, I'll never speak to you again.
no subject
He's not sure whether to feel hurt, sorry, or angry, but he wonders if he'll pry long nough, if she'll at least yell it into his face.]
It's not like you would notice I'm doing it.
[Not many people did, unless they knew what to look for. It's not that the act itself left any tracks. It also didn't give you the power to communicate, or tamper with the mind you were in. All you could do was just watch. Listen. Feel.
But it's not like he would really do it, not under that threat, so that argument is pointless and just unnecessarily egging her on. He has no idea why he even said it in the first place. With a sigh, he looks directly into her eyes, asking.]
What do you achieve by keeping it in? Even if it blows off, I already know. It will stay between us, if we don't solve it.
[And he doesn't want that kind of rift between them.]
no subject
What was more, she didn't want to confront Sano about it. Their arrangement was already perfect because it didn't weigh either of them down. Sometimes, though, even Rangiku wanted more. ]
I would know just by looking at you if you had.
[ Whether he would laugh at her or not was up to him, but she couldn't deny that him knowing would solve problems. Only to create all new ones in their wake.
She reached up to ruffle her hair irritably, letting out a small sigh. ]
Let it go for now. It's not your problem.
no subject
How can you say that? Or course it's my problem! You're obviously angry and it's obviously got to do with me.
[He breathes deeply in, because he feels like he's being slowly overruled by his emotions. That wouldn't be wise.]
Besides, I think we're friends. Anything that's your problem, is mine as well.
At least tell me if I can somehow make it alright.
[If she was intent on playing the dead fish, if she just couldn't tell him, no matter what, he had to respect that in the end. But he at least wanted to know, if there was something, anything, he could do as an amend.]
no subject
Maybe it's her mood, maybe it's that 50/50 chance of screwing things up, but Rangiku turns on her heel and starts walking away again. She didn't want to dignify any of that with an answer, it all just made what she was feeling worse. It's her problem to deal with, not his. ]
It'll sort itself out eventually, don't worry your pretty head about it.
[ She waves dismissively as she picks up the pace, wanting nothing more than to actually take that bath she had been talking about not so long ago. ]
no subject
[Was everything he said wrong now, he wonders briefly, suppresing a frustrated growl. He can't get upset here, it's not his place. He thinks that maybe he really should give up for now, that maybe they can talk it over later, when there wasn't a bottle iin her hand and she calmed down, but there's a part of him... a stubborn part of him that can't leave it alone. With every steps she takes further from him, feels like their closeness is fading away piece by piece.]
Damnit Ran!
[He dashes after her and outruns her to stand in her way.]
At least yell at me, if you're mad, but don't run away!
no subject
Sano's stubbornness wasn't welcome at the moment, though. She'd had enough of trying to back out of it with some dignity and now she wasn't just annoyed he wouldn't leave her alone, she was angry over it. ]
What gives you the right to pry into my problems? [ A delicate hand comes up to shove him. ] We're not dating, so you don't get to play the 'your problem is my problem' card anyway. And I never said you were my problem, that's your assumption.
no subject
It hurts him, though he might not admit it, or let it get to him. She's being so stubborn, when all he wants to do is make it alright, can't she see that?]
The right? Maybe the fact that I worry about you and don't want there to be misunderstandings between us, because you're dear to me, is that enough?!
[He bites his tongue, when he realizes he raised his voice and takes another dee breath, but it sounds more like he's seething. No. No they're not dating, but that didn't change they were close! Or was it just him who thought that way?]
And assumption based on the fact, that you seem to get pissed more at every word that leave my mouth. That you don't let me even touch you anymore. That for a compliment I get a sneer in return.
Merlin's balls, Ran! I'm not stupid, so don't lie to me!
no subject
If I didn't have a pig-headed friend trying to badger it out of me, maybe I wouldn't be so angry!
[ Sighing softly, she mutters 'this is stupid' to herself and crosses her arms in front of herself, eyes staring up at him. Her gaze is assessing, albeit still angry. This feels like what it might be like to be in a relationship with Sano, and if it was then it wasn't worth all of this. The aggravation and fighting with him made her miserable. ]
Just let me go take my bath in peace.
no subject
Alright then. But we'll talk later. When we both have a clear head.
[His expression softens for a moment, as another, softer sigh passes his lips.]
I just don't like to see you angry, or upset.
no subject
[ Quietly, she smooths across where she'd been poking him, as if to apologize, and steps away from him. It's only now that she remembers that it's cold outside, the chill cutting through her thick cloak like a hot knife through butter. A shiver chases up her spine as she wraps her cloak tighter and sidesteps him. ]
Good night, Sanosuke.
[ For future reference, she's not promising to talk wit him. She just wants to get inside and relax so she can begin the process of sorting this mess out in her head. ]
