Well, owl mail can go really slow if you want to talk to someone far away, right? And it's not as good as hearing their voice or seeing them in person, even if a letter can be really personal.

Muggles have invented technology that allows them to talk to each other from clear across the world, and it's only gotten better and better over the years. Now that someone's managed to make this technology work with magic, wizards will be able to use it any time they please too. For example, if we wanted to talk to each other over the summer, it's as simple as tapping the buttons on the screen a few times for phone calls or text messaging.

[ For a demonstration she's going to text Hikaru, who to her knowledge is no where near there right now. He shouldn't be in class so it shouldn't be a problem, right? ]
