1st Frost | How to avoid people

[When she had found out she was accepted into this school... She honestly didn't know what to think, except for the fact that she was different than the rest of her family. However she hadn't been very excited about it due to the fact it was her accidentally using magic that hurt her sister. She saw it as a curse and something she had always meant to keep hidden. Yet as she wondered the hallways, somewhat out of it, she still thought as such.

Keeping to herself both during her time in the Great Hall and out of it, she just simply didn't want to hurt anyone else. At least that was what she was attempting to do. However she still wasn't sure if people would avoid her to, otherwise she felt like she could hurt them as well if they stayed close to her. Turning a corner, Elsa's eyes were to the floor as she was muttering some words to herself, hands gripping slightly. She really wasn't paying attention to what was going on in front of her, more focused on something else.]

Are you okay?

[Naminé sees the girl and a look of concern colors her features. She looks so upset and she wants to help if she can. She is standing in front of Elsa when the young girl looks up from the floor.]

[She nodded slightly, her eyes not once looking up. She was nervous being around so many people, but it wasn't just that. This whole thing was strange and new. It would take her a while to get use to it.]

I-I'm fine. This is just all new to me.

[ Korra's been testing how much Naga knows because suddenly seeing her dog as a puppy again requires that. Seems like she knows all the things she should know though, so this is just some magical thing to make her into a puppy again. That's pretty neat. Just weird since she was the first person ever to tame one of those by growing Naga all the way from this little puppy to the giant dog it should be now.

Well, puppy!Naga is much better than not having Naga with her here at all, so it's not like she'll take this as a bad thing...

The puppy is the first one to notice Elsa and once she does, she runs over to her like all curious and friendly puppies would. Hello new friend!! Korra is slower, she's just walking closer and keeping an eye on the girl. Everyone don't like strange dogs coming near them, so in case that seems to be her reaction too, she's ready to tell Naga to stop and she'll stop like a statue if she gets that order. ]

[Her smile softens slightly.]

Maybe I can help. I've been going to this school for a few years now.

[Oh wow... What a cute little girl.

Adela can't help blinking hard - this girl has to be a first year, at the least. And she looks distracted, alone, and she can't describe it but something makes her stomach flip about this girl. In fact, all she can do is watch --

-- And doesn't have the mind to get out of the way. The jolt causes Adela to snap out of it and before she can think her hand shoots out to try and grab at the girl's wrist to make sure she doesn't fall. Crap, she should have at least moved or something.]

Careful.

It's fine... it's best if I wonder alone.

[She was scared more than anything. She was trying her best though but deep down she felt like it might never be possible.]

[Elsa had been a little jumpy when the tiny thing came at her. She really didn't expect it at best, but she thought they were pretty adorable. Different and something she had yet to see since coming into this world full of magic.]

Hello there... Is your owner near by?

[She started to look around for any signs. She knew she shouldn't, but she felt like she should at least find the owner first.]

I-I'm sorry.

[She was genuine in her apology, she didn't want to accidentally bump into people, but she found she kept doing it. Maybe she should really consider paying attention.]

I'm try and me more careful. I wouldn't want anything to happen after all.

... It isn't your fault, I wasn't paying attention either.

[It's awkwardly phrased, at least Adela feels like it, but she at least attempts to soften her expression for Elsa as she looks her over. ]

I take it you're a first year? The school can be pretty big and intimidating at first.

[She nodded slightly.]

I am. I've never seen a world of magic before, so it's all kind of strange and new.

[Having come from a Muggle place and not knowing of her ability and what that meant for the past few years... It was a lot to take in.]

I didn't know either, when I first came here. We're a bit rarer than the students who already know everything about Hogwarts and about the wizarding world.

[She nods, remembering her own struggles when she first came to Hogwarts. Getting lost with the changing staircases on the first day of classes was an absolute nightmare - this girl at least has the advantage of coming here when classes aren't in session to learn about things like that ahead of time.]

... What's nice about it is that there's a lot to learn. It's easier to get interested in everything because it's so strange and new. I still love learning about new oddities all around me.

[Naminé frowns slightly.]

Are you sure? I really don't mind...

It's fine... I just don't want to hurt you.

[After all she seemed nice and she didn't want to hurt anyone.]

[She paused slightly. Someone else who didn't know much about this place when they first came. That pinged her slightly and made ehr interested as she made sure to look at the other. Someone who could probably understand her maybe?]

Is it okay to ask something? Or it might seem rather rude of me, in which case I am sorry, I won't ask again.

[Ah? She's a little surprised and it shows to her face, but it doesn't seem like she's going to react poorly to that. Instead she nods, kneeling just a little bit so that she can do a better job of meeting Elsa's eye. Not that she's that much taller, but still.]

Of course. You can ask me anything you like.

[Naminé blinks.]

Hurt me? You won't hurt me...

[At least she can't imagine this little girl trying to hurt her.]

[Naga being a smart dog gives the tiniest bark and takes a few steps towards Korra. The older girl waves quickly at the tiny girl.]

Found a new friend, huh? [She sounds amused by that before she walks closer too, friendly smile on her face.]

Hi. I'm Korra, she's Naga, and you are?

You'd be surprised.

[It was why she was here, to learn how to control her magic and use it though the wand instead. It was the best way to do it.]

But I'll try not to anyway.

My name is Elsa.

[She at least knows to be polite at best as she gives a small bow.]

Is it okay to ask what Naga is? I've never seen an animal like that before.

How much do you know about magic? Like how does people actually control what they have in the first place?

[Because that was something she wanted to find out.]

[ The question brings a frown, but it's not aimed at Elsa -- not really. She's thinking about the question and how to answer, because honestly it hasn't occured to her before to ask a question like that, let alone how to answer it. ]

I know how to cast a lot of different spells, charms, curses and things like that, but no more than any other third year student going into fourth would. As for magic control... It sort of just happens. Like at first spells might backfire because you say something wrong or you put the wrong concentration into a spell, or you might cast it unintentionally even without your wand. It's something that you get as you learn, and it keeps being challenged as our teachers give us harder assignments.

[That at least sounds right to her... She tries to put on a warmer expression for Elsa, though she has no idea if it's going to work or if she's going to end up looking scary by mistake.]

By the end of first year though, you should get a big increase in control compared to what you had before. It'll just happen gradually so you might not notice it until you've already improved a lot. And this is a safe place to learn, because we have a lot of people around us who know what they're doing, can help us improve, and can help us fix it if we make mistakes. And you'll just keep getting better from there.

I'm sure you can do it. Here, [She holds out her hand for Elsa to take.] Let me show you around.

[Considering the young girl didn't have much control to begin with beyond not feeling anything in order to control it to an extent. She had started to feel like maybe there was something there that might help her. She finally was giving a somewhat small smile. She was feeling a lot better about being here.]

That actually helped me feel better, thank you miss...Uh...I don't think I got your name? I'm Elsa.

[She shakes her hand slightly. She hasn't touched people in three years or so, she was scared to start now, just in case.]

Thank you, miss. [She starts to walk on a little head before turning slightly to see if the other was following.]

[Namine follows behind letting her hand fall to the side. She hopes that Elsa is okay but then there really isn't any way for her to tell.]

I'm sure you know where the great hall and the main court yard are by now. [She pauses with a smile.] There is also the Quittage field if you haven't seen that yet. It's a bit of a walk. Then there is the lake. Inside the castle can be confusing if you aren't used to it also.
