Teaching / Quidditch League / Free time
A) LESSONS - Class time, Privates (ooc: Put into one, so you can respond with first years as well as non AU charas, who might wanna give it a try, but don't feel like attending class with a bunch of 11 years old.)
[Teaching first years only was admittedly fun, but it came in hand with long breaks during the day and generally without much things to do to prepare the lessons, so Sano tended to have a lot of time on his hands. But this year it seemed a little different. There were many late students, who had never had flown a broom before, who would ask him for private lessons. And thanks to the masquerade, there were students interested in dancing as well. Which he might not have a professional certificate for, but he was good enough for honing their skills.
And then there were of course the Quidditch teams, who all had ended up with a lot of new members this years - if not completely newly founded, and sheesh what had Ravenclaw honestly been thinking? - who would sometimes ask for his advice, or to oversee their training.
In the end his long hours in between had filled out quite well.
And the first years were slowly getting the hang of it as well. They have started on the entire concept of "vertical movement" - how to get higher and higher, without p*ssing your pants, really - and so far it was... well, no one had fallen off yet.
And his plan was to get them as high as possible, inch by inch, if he had to.]
OK class, today I want you to try and get as high as the fifth storey! Just keep up what we've been practicing. Any questions?
[Thus he kept applying the carrot and stick policy during class, and afterwards head over to whatever private lessons he was having next, trademark smile ever-present on his face. Teaching was fun.]
B) A PUBLIC PLACE (anywhere) - Reading the Daily Prophet be like...
[In spite of not playing anymore - not being able to - Sano liked to keep himself up to date with how his old team was doing. When he had just quit the sport, it was something that he had liked to torture himself with, but also something that had helped him to let go. Nowadays it was just something he wanted to know, even though lately it caused him more grief than joy.]
Seriously 150:140? what's up with that score?!!!
[Had their Keeper been asleep or what?! And what had the Chasers been doing?! This way they'd lose against the Montrose Magpies, which was their next match, and Sano would have to listen to the Headmistress gloat - anyone who didn't believe him Minerva McGonagall could gloat, was either blind, or just failed to see that inner victorious smirk on her face - for WEEKS. Not to mention it would make the Kestrels fall another seat in the table.]
Please don't lose to the Magpies...
[Sano mutters and closes the newspaper with a sigh, his hand subconsciously massaging his lower stomach. Seriously, times like these, he wished he still could play. If only to substitue one game, to help them get their sh*t together.]
C) WILDCARD - Quidditch training, chilling, drinking, other
[Other than his class and inside the castle, near a cosy fireplace, Sano can mostly be found in his room, office - yes he has one! -, or on the quidditch pitch.
The season would start soon, so the teams wanted to get in as much training in as possible. The first match was scheduled to december, the tryouts were knocking on the door and there was the Ravenclaw issue, thus there was always someone practicing, or flying around where they shouldn't be flying around, so he had sometimes had a tough time.
In spite of his less busy schedule, there were times when he was just happy to sit down with a drink, or the newest issue of the Daily Prophet, or just cuddle up in a cosy chair, or his bed, hoping that no one would knock on his door in the next hour or two.
Not that he'd be always that lucky.]

Quidditch!
She's running to try and meet at one of his open times, not wanting to ask him questions during the first years class. When she arrives she's panting softly but smiling.]
I made it!
Quidditch is always a good place to start :D Also, he's a former Gryffindor ;)
Hikaru-chan?
[The young Gryffindor seeker is panting, like she'd just ran a marathon and Sano smiles, setting the papers aside, turning to the student with a smile.]
You didn't have to run like that. My door's always open, even when it isn't.
[He makes a point of being approachable at all times.]
What can I do for you?
YAAAAAAAAAY
I know, I wanted to catch you before you got busy.
[Hikaru holds up her old broom and bounces slightly. The two tails of her flying robes fan to either side of her waist as she steps over next to the skilled teacher.]
I was hoping for some private lessons. I know that my broom isn't the newest or fastest but it has heart and I know we can go faster.
[Her eyes are sharp which is why she fits the seeker roll well, she's light and tiny helping her go faster but she feels as if she can go faster still.]
WRONG ACCOUNT. Sorryyyyy >.<
I'm never too busy for a student.
[He listens to what the girl has to say and his smile turns a little gentler and a bit nostalgic. His eyes glance towards the obviously old broom, but also obviously loved and taken good care of. He thought of his own broom, aged 15 years, that was still a fine lady.]
It doesn't matter how old the broom is, but how it's taken care of.
[He gives the seeker a confident smirk.]
I'm sure we can tune that speed star of your's a few notches up.
I'm sorry I'm so slow!!!
Really?! I mean... I think I'm taking good care of her.
[She holds out her broom so that he can take a closer look. She's used to taking care of her Kendo equipment as well as the dojo per her fathers teaching and instructions. There isn't any task too small for Hikaru.]
What do you think?
Because I'm so extremely fast lol?
It's definitely old, ancient even, but the cushion charm is still as new, and it feels well-balanced and smooth, like it has been tuned a lot of times. It's brimming with energy and aside from looking very used, there's not a single thing wrong with it.]
I can tell. [He says with a smile.] This broom is loved very much.
[He thought about how to tune up the speed, on this already fast, well-kept broom.]
I could show you how to toy a little with the acceleration and strengthen the shielding charm. Having higher wind resistance will make your headwind a lesser hindrance and thus you'll get faster.
[It would probably look like he was having favorites, and wouldn't be very fair to the other players, if he did it himself, but showing her how it was done, was within his competence as the flying instructor.]
And you should comb regularly and trim the tail when necessary, to keep the shape aerodynamic. I found it makes maneuvring easier.
[He added, but he was sure, she did that already.]
Other than that, a broom responds to your feelings and thoughts. The more focused and in tune with your broom you are, the faster and more precisely it responds. Training your focus is essential.
[Though he was sure she knewthat already as well.]
Keep these things up and you'll get faster and faster.
>.<
I'd be happy to learn that! I mean if you can teach me.
[She isn't the best student but she always gives it her all.]
And I'll make sure to take care of her and love her.
[There is no doubt that Hikaru loves her broom very much. She's even known to talk to it when they aren't in the air, like telling it about her day.]

Useful spells are curro, propero and accelero. They are all meant to increase speed, but they all work differently. It's best to play around with them a little and see what does which for your broom. There's also cumulo and decresco, which increase and decrease whatever you combine them with. It helps specifying your spell.
[As he lists the spells, he demonstrates the movements with his wand and a flick of his wrist, but doesn't release the spell, less the objects in the room will start exploading.
After that, he goes to the single bookcase in the room, that holds but a few books and pulls out one.
'To tune up your broom. Easy spells that will make even the oldest stick in your closet like a newest racing broom.'
The cover is a little worn down and the pages are scraped here and there, and there's a huge brown stain from his favorite brand of black tea somewhere in it, but it's still as useful as it had been ten years ago. With a smile he hands it to Hikaru.]
Here. Use this. It look awful, but it's really helpful start for stuff like this and gives you an understanding of the basics. But you have to remember, that even the fastest broom is useless, if the one flying it can't fly. In the end, it all comes down to how you handle your broom.
[Practice is all. Little tricks like this were useful to add detail, or personalize your broom, but meant nothing, if the player was bad at flying. Which he knew Hikaru-chan wasn't, but he felt he had to point out the obvious. The better the player, the more they helped.]

She knows the basic spells but she doesn’t know how to use them. Most brooms are bought with the spells already enchanting the broom. She lists out the spells and then makes small notes and ideas next to them that might work in combinations. When he begins to show her the motion she shifts the things in her arms again, this time going for her wand. It’s another awkward second before she’s following along with him with her broom, parchment, pen and wand held in between her thin grip.
When he hands her the book she shifts again pushing her wand next to her broom with the pen and parchment. She looks over the books cover and notes its age. She tries to be careful with it but she’s already holding so many things and she doesn’t think she can put anything away without dropping everything.]
Thank you. I’ll make sure to read it as soon as I can.
[She wants to practice handling her broom first which is another reason why she’s here. There are many ways to practice and being a seeker meant that Hikaru could easily practice without the whole team. Only she needs a Snitch to practice with.]

When he turns around, he has to smile at how the things she's holding in her hands seemed to multiply in that short time.]
Here let me get that.
[He takes her broom and the book, so that she can organize herself, before handing them both back.]
As for practicing focus and speed, the simplest excersises are always the best.
[Flying around in circles, zig-zags and other shapes, accelerate & break, stuff like that. They were simply, but they did wonders to your feeling and grip. Of course, as the seeker she also had to practice her reflexes.]
You could also enchant an object to fly around, that you can practice catch with.
[He wonders if he can lend her the golden snitch. Probably yes. He'd lend it to the other seekers, if they asked, as well. It counted as Quidditch practice and it was usual to practice Quidditch with actual balls. He'd have to put up a time limit, so that it's fair to everyone.]
Alternately, I think I could lend you the snitch for a day.
no subject
You could!?
[Hikaru knows that their team captain likes to throw golf balls and watch her catch them but after a while it gets a little dull. Golf balls always travel in the same arch and even when they tried to enchant them they weren’t as fast or as sneaky as a snitch.]
That would help and of course I’ll keep practicing basics.
[She wishes that she could swerve through the windows around the great castle but she knows she’ll get in trouble if she happens to run into one of the more stuffy teachers.]

[He laughs a little mischievously.]
At least I don't remember anyone, or anything saying I can't. Besides, it's not like I wouldn't lend it to the other seekers, for training purposes.
[Practice made it perfect. They needed practice. And as seekers they could practice alone. It was okay, right? Ah well, if it wasn't he'd just listen to the Headmistress rant, maybe get his pay docked for a while. He'd survive.]
It's okay if it's just for one day.
[He walks to the cabinet few feet away and opening it, he pulls out the small wooden chest, that every student knows. It's the chest the appears before every match. He gets the snitch and after locking the rest of the balls away again, hands it to Hikaru.]
Here. If you lose it, or it escapes you, tell me.
[Referees had the privilege of being able to call it back with the summoning charm.]

Making sure it's tight within her fingers she looks up at Sano.]
One day then! I'll return it by nightfall!
[Assuming she isn't late in chasing it down.]
Thank you again.
[She's really excited.]
Oh, can I go to the field? Or is a team scheduled to practice today?
no subject
Or if it gets too late, you can return it in the morning.
[He ruffles her hair, not able to resist the urge. She's too cute right now.]
You're welcome.
[At the question he has to think for a second.]
I don't think so. The field should be free, unless someone's training privately, or hanging out.
no subject
I'll go check then.
Thanks again.
[She takes her broom, the snitch and the book with her and heads from the room and down towards the field.]
